An Independent multicultural and multilingual Australian publisher

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Leadership

At Kula Press (ABN 84652677542; also referred as “Company”, “we”, “our”, “us”), an imprint of The Australia Today Network Pty Ltd (ACN 652677542), we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are crucial to the development of all employees.

As a young publisher, establishing more inclusive business practices is a necessity for us to help build an inclusive society.

We must give a platform to an even broader range of voices, especially authors and illustrators from multicultural and multilingual background. We believe that diverse voices from a range of ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, heritages, nationalities, abilities, and income levels are elevated and heard.

We commit to supporting and publishing works of literature that address systemic and structural inequalities, echoes the issues faced by multicultural and multilingual communities, and attempt to envision a better future.

As we grow, we will aim to ensure that employees are well-prepared, supported, empowered, and situated in how to advocate for their career path.

We commit to hiring staff members and recruiting board or advisory board members who have a variety of backgrounds and identities.

We aim to support the demands for change from our colleagues, authors, partners, and readers, and the wider multicultural community. We understand and aim to encourage all to authentically express all aspects of their identities in the workplace. We seek to create a psychologically safe and culturally inclusive environment that allows employees, authors, and partners to voice their ideas and opinions freely.

We commit to expanding our readership served to better reach marginalized communities through partnerships and collaborations with other like-minded organizations.

Effective leadership is at the sole of bringing change. We are committed to investing in that change through staff inclusivity and leadership training.
